Tyler Dobies (he/him) is a theatre-maker.

Tyler is the product of aspen trees, dirt roads, liberal arts, homeschooling, and the feeling of not being good enough.

Tyler is currently in Desperate Measures as Sheriff Martin Green with Constellation Theatre Company. In fall 2023, Tyler played Austin Dickinson off-off-Broadway in Dillon & Caps’ Show Me Eternity, a role he originated in late 2021. Last summer, he play Nate in Nate the Great at Imagination Stage. Before that, he toured the United States in TheaterWorksUSA’s production of Junie B’s Essential Survival Guide to School. Finally, he took a Helen Hayes Award nominated turn as Michael in tick, tick…BOOM! with Monumental Theatre Company in Washington, D.C.

As a playwright, Tyler is a member of The Tank’s LIT Council in NYC. He is also a part of the inaugural cohort of Primary Stages’ Creative Access Grant, having been nominated by Pan Asian Repertory Theatre. In 2021, he premiered his solo show “The Role of Other” at Theatre Crude Fringe Festival in Oklahoma City, OK. Prior to that his show We Must See These Things was a part of Pan Asian Repertory Theatre’s NuWorks Festival 2021.

As a poet, Tyler was a part of Abbey Arts 2018 NEXT STAGE program in Seattle, WA. Culminating his experience at the Abbey, Tyler collaborated with poet and visual artist Allison Morton on a series of poems dismantling the idea of “archetypes” to uncover the humanity behind them.

Tyler holds a BFA in Acting/Directing from Pacific Lutheran University and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance: Music Theatre from NYU.
